The EIF project is a collection of research-based systems installed in the UTS:FEIT Broadway Building. The acronym “EIF” refers to the Australian Government's Education Investment Fund which provided funding for these projects.

The projects consist of the following aspects:

• Renewable Energy Generation: Consists of roof-installed solar thermal concentrators (STC), photovoltaic cells (PV), hydrogen fuel cell and a wind turbine (VAWT)
• Building Monitoring: Includes internal and external environmental monitoring (gas concentrations, weather), concrete service life and structure strain, people counting, vibrations and noise levels.
