===== Waspmote Sensors ===== ==== Overview ==== Waspmotes are a product developed by Libellium (hardware and API), with the software developed at UTS. There are three types of Waspmotes distributed on ceilings throughout the building. Each waspmote has an array of sensors and takes readings intermittantly, sending that data wirelessly using Digimesh (a 802.11.15 protocol). There are two Meshlium Gateway's per floor, providing the wireless bridge between the sensors and the EIF databases **NOTE:** **Floor plans (downloadable) show the locations for the Waspmotes. Those Waspmotes labelled "Meshlium powered" (two per floor) are powered by the mains supply and not subjected to battery power problems. The sensors warm for a minimum of 30 seconds before sampling, and they report measurements every 5 minutes. Nominally there are two of these per floor located next to a Meshlium. The extra warming time of the sensors allows for greater accuracy of data gathered from their sensors * **Battery Powered** These sensors rely on their internal batteries. The sensors warm for a minimum of 5 seconds before sampling, and they take measurements every hour. This results in less accurate readings but is necessary to conserve battery life. The data contained in the databases are raw readings, and most sensors data cannot be interpreted without comparing that data to the relevant datasheet and understanding their circuit implementation.
